1. Common Data/Media Interface Circuits

Interface circuits act as logical bridges for communication between electronic devices, peripherals, and internal components. They enable data and media exchange between processors and external systems.

1.1 USB Interfaces

From USB 1.0 (1.5 Mbps) to the latest USB4 (40 Gbps), USB standards have evolved with connectors like Type-A, Type-B, and the dominant Type-C. USB4 via Type-C integrates dual-channel transmission (20/40 Gbps per lane), USB PD support, and backward compatibility.

Key Features:

Durability: Type-C’s metal-shell design withstands 10,000+ insertions (10+ years at 3x daily use).

Display: Supports DisplayPort 1.4a tunneling (8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz) with dynamic bandwidth allocation.

PCIe Tunneling: Optional PCIe support for expanded functionality.

1.2 HDMI Interfaces

HDMI is a fully digital video and sound transmission interface. Since the audio and video signals use the same wire, the difficulty of installing the system line is greatly simplified. Therefore, it is widely used in set-top boxes, DVD players, personal computers, televisions, game consoles, integrated amplifiers, digital audio and televisions and other equipment.

The latest version of HDMI 2.1b delivers:

1) 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz: Up to 10K resolution for immersive viewing.

2) Dynamic HDR: Frame-by-frame optimization for depth, contrast, and color accuracy.

3) eARC: Enhanced audio return channel for lossless audio formats.

4) 48 Gbps Bandwidth: Ultra-high-speed cables with low EMI and backward compatibility.

5) QMS & Cable Power: Eliminates frame-rate switching lag and simplifies active cable usage.

1.3 DisplayPort (DP) Interfaces

Developed by VESA, DisplayPort 2.1 integrates with USB4 and Type-C, supporting:

1) 8K@85Hz/16K@60Hz (with DSC): Ultra-high-resolution HDR at 10-bit color depth.

2) Backward Compatibility: Adapts to HDMI/DVI via passive/active converters.
